Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs (MAAYE) is a private sector initiative by Malaysian Young Business Leaders below 40 years of age. It functions to activate & connect Malaysian young entrepreneurs with the ASEAN market more affectively through official & regulated channels such as the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC). MAAYE promotes empowerment in business skills, regional market insight, services & innovation. Such connectivity will contribute significantly to the strengthening of the ASEAN single market and production base.
MAAYE was founded by Syed Nabil Aljeffri, who is the Secretary General of ASEAN-BAC. Through his passion to elevate the youth & have a platform in ASEAN, MAAYE was formed after the inclusion of youth under the economic pillar by ASEAN Leaders in the Bandar Seri Begawan Declaration 2015. SYED NABIL ALJEFFRI - Founder
Syed Nabil Aljeffri is a lawyer by training who has been active in corporate structuring and acquisition activities for a Private Equity Firm based in Malaysia. He is also the Head of Corporate Services and Legal Compliance for AljeffriDean Chartered Accountants, Chairman of Eco-Hygiene Services Sdn Bhd and a director of several other private limited companies.
Syed Nabil is the Founder of the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs (MAAYE), and was founding Chair of the regional ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC) in 2015. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the AYEC.
Syed Nabil had served in the Asean Business Advisory Council (Asean-BAC) since 2009, beginning as a member of the secretariat before eventually being appointed Council Member. During that time, Nabil was also elected Secretary General of Asean-BAC for 3 terms. Besides Asean-BAC, He also served on various council secretariats including the Malaysia-Venezuela Business Council and Malaysia-China Business Council.
Syed Nabil has participated in various speaking capacities both in and out of Malaysia, including at Malaysian and international universities such as Universiti Malaya and UiTM, Deakin University and University of Melbourne. Internationally, he has also served as speakers at various Forums including the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), the ASEAN-Japan Business Forum, Australian Aid Programme on Asean Services and Labour, GIZ ROO Workshop and many more. He has also served as partner consultants with various Asean agencies.
Syed Nabil has organised numerous initiatives under several organisations and was the organising Chairman of the 1st ASEAN-Malaysia Business Seminar in 2013 and the 1st ASEAN-Malaysia Young Entrepreneurs Forum 2015. Most recently, Nabil founded and was the organising Chairman of the inaugural Asean Young Entrepreneurs Carnival.
Deborah Melissa Bottreau
Deborah Melissa Bottreau, of French-Argentinian descent is a Graphic Design Graduate from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology. She is the Founder, Managing and Creative Director of Sienna DMB Sdn Bhd, a creative and branding agency based in Malaysia.
Deborah is currently the President of the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs (MAAYE), after previously serving as the Founding Deputy President. She also currently sits as a Council Member of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC), an officially ASEAN-mandated network of Young Entrepreneurs from all 10 ASEAN Member States and was recently elected Secretary General of the AYEC.
Deborah started her working career as a Graphic Designer at Freeform Sdn Bhd. Later on, she served as the International Business Development Manager at Nexbis, an IT security firm. Deborah ventured into e-commerce in 2012 , serving as Production Head in Zalora Malaysia.
The tri-lingual Deborah eventually ventured overseas, where her proficiency in Spanish served her well as the Latin America Regional Head of Production for Linio, an e-commerce conglomerate based out of Mexico City. Deborah is also proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Now running her own business full time, she is a part of various start ups involved in e-commerce, crowdfunding and marketplaces. Her and the company have branded & organised events for various Asean Initiatives such as ABAM (Asean Business Awards Malaysia) ABIS 2015 (Asean Business & Investment Summit). In her spare time, Deborah has also served in various speaking capacities in various Forums organised by the ASEAN-Japan Business Council, University of Nottingham, Kolej Damansara Utama (KDU), MCA (Malaysia Chinese Association) Youth and GREAT Programme in Kuching, Sarawak organised by the Malaysia Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC). More recently, Deborah was a speaker at the Asean Youth Initiatives 2016 organised by Persatuan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI). She was also the Organising Chair for the Asean Young Entrepreneurs Carnival 2016, the first of its kind. She was also recently awarded Marie Claire’s Amazing Women 2016 and Prestige Top 40 Under 40 in Malaysia.
Deborah has a special connection with horses, and participated in competitive showjumping from an early age. A showjumping champion and dressage medium champion, Deborah also represented Argentina in the KL Grand Prix held in Bukit Jalil. Upon semi-retirement from showjumping, Deborah now plays recreational polo with her ponies and is a FEI Level 1 certified coach.

He graduated from the University of Sydney with a double major in Finance and Accounting. Since joining GIIB, he has led many business transformations, mainly involving innovation in business models, propelling GIIB to one of the most recognised brand in the rubber industry. Today GIIB serves many premium industrial clients of the Fortune 500 companies across 60 countries.
Mr. Tai also sits on board as the Honorary Committee of the Malaysian Rubber Product Manufacturers Association to help in building the export values of Malaysian rubber. He is also the Deputy President of Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneur (MAAYE).
Having completed his degree and majors in Actuarial Science, Statistics and Finance, Ashveen currently heads the investment wing of SYABS Sdn. Bhd. as the Chief Investment Officer. Being an independent economic analyst, Ashveen’s analysis, which are published on his blog : thewisse.blogspot.my, is often times shared by financial blogs and magazines from around the world. Often sought for his unbiased, practical and witty approach towards investments, Ashveen is often requested to give talks on the investment sector and investment opportunities that are available both in Malaysia and abroad. With his current portfolio topping RM 100 million in investments in and out of Malaysia, he is known to provide an easy approach and an understandable guide towards investments for personal and corporate investors. Having had his experience in the US, he is currently providing creative avenues for investors to maximize their returns in the local and global markets, without having to fork out unnecessary amounts in additional fees. Ashveen currently provides a wide range of investments to suit any risk appetite of any client.
Graduated from Dublin Business School, Republic of Ireland. An Accountant by profession who started his career in an audit firm and then move into the oil and gas industry overseeing Shell Chemicals Seraya, Singapore. Before moving into the insurance industry as a Financial Underwriter. Currently Akmar heads the Marketing & Investment Department in Selia-Tek Holdings Sdn Bhd, a manufacturing company involved in the plastic injection moulding for the medical, power and railway industry.
Since joining Selia-Tek he had steered the organisation moving from only domestic business into an export oriented company working with multinational companies overseas and currently exporting to more than 20 countries. From a SME , now a Mid-Tier company, he is spearheading the company into the Aerospace industry where Selia-Tek was appointed under the EPP8 Aerospace Manufacturing Program under MITI. Also currently a Founder and Director of two other companies involved in the FMCG and F&B industry. Very active in NGOs as well, currently Deputy President for Matrade Exporters Alumni Association (MAX) and also a Committee member of the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs (MAAYE).
